Dog Training

New classes start at the beginning of each month. Call to reserve your spot as class sizes are limited!

Petiquette is for dogs of all ages and is an excellent foundation. No previous training required. Dogs will learn some basic manners while their owners learn how to communicate to their dog. Some graduates continue their training with our AKC Canine Good Citizen class. The basics you will learn are:

  • Heel – walking on a leash without pulling
  • Sit – “sit” on command
  • Stay – “stay” while you walk away
  • Come – “come” when given the command
  • Down – “down” and “stay”

With consistency, rewards and positive reinforcement, your dog will learn!

AKC Canine Good Citizen Training

The Canine Good Citizen dog training Program lays the foundation for other AKC activities such as obedience, agility, tracking, and performance events. As you work with your dog to teach the CGC skills, you’ll discover the many benefits and joys of training your dog. Training will enhance the bond between you and your dog. Dogs who have a solid obedience education are a joy to live with - they respond well to household routines, have good manners in the presence of people and other dogs, and they fully enjoy the company of the owner who took the time to provide training, intellectual stimulation, and a high quality life.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program

Start your new family member off on the right track. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program focuses on Socialization, Training, Activity and Responsibility. Classes focus on teaching you how to best communicate with your puppy while socializing with other dogs. A key component of this class is owner responsibility. Owners will be expected to follow the AKC Good Citizen Responsible Dog Owner Pledge.
